I entered the facility looking for a place to stay, I was just entering into my sobriety journey for the 4th time and had nowhere to go and had no contact with any of my family due to my years of addiction. I spoke with MS Laronda and was able to come down for a meeting at the facility. She went over all the rules and what was expected of me while in the program and honestly; I was just very thankful I had some where to go . Well, I was married at the time, and I spoke with her about getting my husband in as well. We both were excepted into the program, and we had regular weekly meetings and always were able to reach out for help with anything. They provided a certain amount for hygiene products as well as groceries and that was such a blessing because at that time in my life I was trying to start over from nothing again, I had nothing at all, my husband and I had a vehicle and that was it. Ms. Laronda was a very big part of my sobriety, and I thank her whenever I can she listened to me and all of us. Always gave us the benefit of the doubt in every circumstance and helped me with navigating big decisions when I was too nervous or scared to make them on my own. While living there and being in the program I was able to start my own Heroin anonymous meetings and talked to a lot of the people that came in the program after I was there tried to help them as much as I could with their recovery. We were encouraged to look for employment and start college or get our GED if we didn’t have it to better our futures. That program was a safe haven for me and my husband at the time. They held us accountable and that’s exactly what a recovering addict needs always. I am 2 years, 5 months and 27 days as of today, 2/25/2026 and I am so thankful that I was able to find to join that program. I have been away from my family for a few years and haven’t seen my daughter since 2022 and today I have my daughter back in my life and my whole family I live in Florida, with a work from home job I actually got hired for about a few months before I left the program . I’m so happy know. All I needed was a chance and this program gave it to me and I will forever be grateful to MS Laronda and everyone who runs the program for that chance. They believed in me and never stopped, they care about all of the people in the program and wants to see everyone do better and recover.
I have my life back, my family back, my daughter back and I am so so happy. I help others as much as I can and volunteer know to help others in recovery or in active addiction still. Everyone deserves help no matter
My name is Christin Almand, and I am writing this letter to share how this program truly saved my life.
I was a patient at a clinic in Macon when my counselor told me about a recovery program designed to help people rebuild their lives. At the time, I was doing well in my recovery. I attended the clinic regularly and stayed consistent with my appointments. However, each day I returned home to an abusive relationship that nearly cost me my life on numerous occasions.
No matter how bad the abuse became, I always went back. Each relapse happened because I felt alone and broken. The love and confidence I once had for myself had been beaten out of me. I was living in fear, shame, and hopelessness.
I remember the day I spoke with Mrs. LaRonda about the recovery program. At first, I did not think it was for me. I did not want to participate in programming or interact with others because I was still carrying so much shame. But once I moved in and began attending regular programming and meeting with the peer specialist, and the counselors, my life slowly began to change.
I found myself again. I learned how to love myself again.
For the first time in a long time, I could go to bed and sleep without fear. I could eat without worrying about where my next meal would come from because the program provided monthly food and other essential items. The program also helped me write a resume and taught me how to present myself in interviews. Because of that support, I was able to get a job and begin saving money, something I had not done in years.
I was part of the program for 21 months. When I left, I felt whole again. I was able to purchase a car and rent a home entirely on my own. Something I felt was impossible due to my current situation.
I understand that not everyone may have the same experience I did. However, you must be willing to do the work, and this program provides you with what is needed to get your life back on track.
I am forever grateful for the opportunity that was given to me. This program did not just help me recover; it gave me my life back.
